Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions we generally get asked by potential students.

If you don't find the answer to your question then you can either give us a call or fill in the enquiry form and we'll do our best to help.

No, this is not a turn up and qualify course; you must pass the course. Although there are no formal exams to take your tutor will continually assess your work throughout the course and inspect your workmanship and quality so that it reaches and exceeds the standards required by the industry. Our tutors will ensure you pass your course with our comprehensive traning and their many years of experience within the Beauty industry.

Students may pay by instalments prior to the commencement of the course on which they are booked. However, the course fee must be fully paid when the course starts.

Unfortunately, if the tutor feels that a student does not meet the required standard they will not award the certificate. In this case the student will be offered a free place on another course of the same type to enable them to reach the standards set.

No, this is not a turn up and pass course. Tutors are continually assessing student’s work to ensure it meets the required industry standards. As an accredited certificate it is our responsibility to maintain these standards and ensure that a student is sufficiently skilled to carry out the procedures on their customers.

No this is not an NVQ course, but all our courses are based on the NVQ curicculem to ensure you recieve instruction based on the latest training and standards. For Beauty Therapists and especially for Nail Technicians (Nail Techs do not need an NVQ qualification) an employer will ask you to do a trade test and they will be looking for the standard of your work and how fast you can deliver the treatment.

Yes absolutely, you will be able to obtain industry insurance, which will enable you to work in a salon, from home or mobile. Our courses are accredited through Professional Beauty Direct.

We select venues around the UK which we feel are comfortable and conducive to learning the skills and techniques of your specific course, and we try to make them cost effective to keep the fees for our courses as low as possible.

With our 1 to 1 tuition courses we will send a trainer to your choice of venue and this can be your home or salon.

Yes you can!! Bear in mind we keep our class sizes small generally between 6 and 8 students, who work in pairs applying the techniques that have been demonstrated by your tutor. This means that there are only 3 to 4 working students at one time and hence more one-to-one tutor time is available to each student. Furthermore, the continual assessment format means that tutors are always with and around you - contstantly helping with advice, hints and tips. Our focus is on applied and practical teaching methods, in fact, many of our students have asked the same question and leave after 1 or 2

We provide the kit students use during the course but do not provide kit for students to take away. We supply nail and beauty kits at very reasonable rates should students wish to purchase them. They can be seen on our online shop under ‘Kits’.

You should always wear something comfortable. We suggest wearing layers so that you can take off if hot, and add if you are cool. Students can sometimes get cool as they are sitting down for the whole day with little moving about. So take this into consideration if you know you have a tendency to get cold.

Yes, kits can be seen and bought on the course. The lecturer will bring them with her. If you know what you want then it is often wise to book it before the course, as occasionally we do run out of stock, but this does not happen often.

Yes, once you have perfected your skill. This needs to be done before you start having ‘real’ clients. As you perfect your skill you will also be building your confidence to becoming a professional. You will need to have perfected your skill and be confident in your skill to get and RETAIN your clients. Don’t be tempted to start too early. Remember bad news travels very fast!! You want and need to have a good reputation as a Nail Tech to get and keep clients!

It is not as recognised as an NVQ. But remember that the NVQ in Nail Services only came out about 2 years ago. We have had Nail Techs long before that! Most of them have trained this way.
